I got a sneak peek at the final Raw Ambition today! She’s one of my favorite gymnasts and DEFINITELY a role model! Y’all are gonna love it!!
UPDATE: Adding videos! Click the gymnasts’ name to view a video of them. Keep checking back as I continue to edit! Nominative roster list is now COMPLETE! I suspect the mixed groups will change since some countries have withdrawn and others will be sending less gymnasts than initially thought.
Original post: Many countries have released their nominative rosters of the athletes that they are taking to Worlds already, wahoo! This means that the rosters can change, and likely we’ll see some changes, but this should give us a rough idea of who we can expect to see! Mielieta at Keishlieta Gymnastique has started compiling a list, along with the Rotations schedule for the competition, it’s nice to see everyone’s names together!
Chris Brooks & Wes Haagensen designed some new tees for @GymCrew. Check it out & support your nat’l team members! www.gym-crew.com
Wahoo! Anna Pavlova is NOT retiring! :) Now if only she were going to Worlds :(
Working on a new Gymnastike coverage for Texas Dreams ADULT GYMNASTICS! Coming soon :)

Alicia Sacramone — International Gymnast Mag Interview. Updates & a new business venture, ShockSox! — http://bit.ly/9urdS2
No!! The Cal Berkeley gymnastics program was cut today. I am totally surprised by this decision - the gymnastics community showed a tremendous amount of support for the program, including a huge financial contribution to keep the team afloat, and I honestly thought the Board of Regents would keep the team. This is very disappointing for all the Cal gymnasts, current and former, and also makes me nervous about the future of NCAA men’s gymnastics in general.
Via NastiaFan — a new Nastia interview, with a few training clips. Nothing spectacular, but she does a little beam tumbling. Better than nothing, and good to see she can still do something! Now let’s up the training so we can see her compete in 2011! OK Nastia? Great, thanks!
PS. Click the title to go to the video! If it doesn’t work, just go to www.nbcdfw.com and search Nastia Liukin. It’s the interview from September 26th.
Via Stick It Media — Jeez, based on his training videos he’s posted, Paul Hamm is EASILY going to be back to full speed for the next competition year! Barring any injuries, I’ve got to think he’ll be on the team for London 2012 - they’d be stupid not to take an athlete of his caliber. Not only can he contribute some potentially very high scores on just about every event, he also brings the experience of having been to the Olympics before, and he’s the type of gymnast to stay calm and collected under pressure, which is just what the USA needs. Looking good Paul!
PS. Click the title to see Paul’s latest training video!
Shawn Johnson was featured on an Iowa news segment with MORE NEW SKILLS!! Check out a clip on Blythe’s Gym Examiner: http://exm.nr/9hKIIr
Via Rick at GymnasticsCoaching.com and Brigid at the Couch Gymnast….
American Cup is now going to be a World Cup event! This is fantastic news. Not only will it bring more credibility to the event, which has been criticized for it’s American domination in the past, but it will also, as Brigid pointed out, bring us some exciting gymnastics in that time in between NCAA ending and elite starting up again.
Brigid over at the Couch Gymnast has posted a massive gymnastics update y’all might like! Check it out: http://couch-gymnast.blogspot.com/
OMG! Baby Daniele Hypolito in the ‘00 Olympics AA! She’s so teeny! Aww…she’s really tidied up her form on vault since then!
I think Anna Tchepeleva looks an awful lot like Tatiana Nabieva. RT if you agree! Hint: think Russia from 2000 Olympics.
Hello newest follower Heath Pearce! Fun fact: Heath plays prof soccer for FC Dallas, and has a mustache. Didn’t know he liked gymnastics!
Watching the ‘00 Olympics Team Finals again. Can someone explain why the Chinese are wearing pink scrunchies with red/yellow leotards?? Ew.

Oops, apparently USA gymnastics isn’t choosing the Worlds team for another 2 weeks! I can’t wait to see if my prediction is right!
Happy National Gymnastics Day everyone!!! Let’s see some pic submissions to celebrate! Click Submit on the right side of amygym.tumblr.com
The FIG has sanctioned USAG and the Ukraine Gymnastics Federation because they each let an athlete return to competition without clearing it through them. The gymnasts in question are Alicia Sacramone (USA) and Natalia Godunko (UKR), who is a rhythmic gymnast. Despite Alicia announcing her return to the gym a loooong time ago, apparently nobody at USAG bothered to inform the bigwigs at the FIG, which violates the World Anti-Doping Agency and FIG anti-doping rules.
Apparently Sacramone and Godunko will both be allowed to compete at Worlds, since the FIG didn’t want to punish the athletes for the mistake their federations made, the article said. Ouch, FIG layin it down on USAG!
Via GymDivas, 2010 JO National Champ Rachel Spicer has committed to Florida, beginning fall 2012!
The United States, as expected, was dominant at this competition, winning both the men’s and women’s team competitions, and earning a total of 15 medals: 9 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze, the most of any nation. Read on for more results and discussion.

Gossip news: Alicia Sacramone now on Twitter! Follow her at @ASacramone3
Like I mentioned in a tweet recently, I set up a Google Analytics account so it could track my blog stats like pageviews and visits and stuff like that. I was exploring it a little and apparently I can see a map which tells me where my readers come from, pretty cool! I am a little nerd so I thought I’d share :)
Thank you! Although I have only 14 followers, I try to make everything I put up the best it can be! I’m glad you like it, it’s awesome to see that others like my stuff. I’m also happy to hear that you love Gymnastike - so do I! Anne is a genius for creating the website. Stay tuned for more from me on there coming soon!
She sure is in this picture! I used to think she wasn’t so graceful or elegant, but she’s really improved her flexibility and her leaps lately, yay! And this lovely leap is on beam, too!

This photo is one of many from a Flickr set by Kizzlexy, and is not mine.
I gave myself quite a question earlier when I wondered if there had been many Guatemalan gymnasts reaching the Elite stage in years past. I could only think of some Cubans and Puerto Ricans….which are of course NOT Guatemala.
So, do any of my loyal readers know of any other Guatemalan gymnasts?
Just installed a tracker to count how many visits my blog gets. So everyone read my blog and make me feel cool, ok? http://amygym.tumblr.com
