Ekaterina Lobaznyuk - 1999 Worlds Team Finals (Beam)

I love this little trickster! She even did that glance to the side that she also did at Sydney 2000. In Sydney I thought she was looking to the coach (she fell) but now that I’ve seen her do it twice, I wonder if she wasn’t checking time or something? Anyways, she’s great! 9.6 seems low to me! Also - those leotards are hideous! I’ve never been a fan of white bodies on the leo, because usually they’re a bit see-through, but the polka dots are so 90s and just awful, haha!

Ksenia Semenova….

…I hope we see her compete again this year/next year! I enjoy her gymnastics :)

Just a quick thought!

Video

Anna Pavlova, one of my favorite gymnasts, performed a near perfect and totally beautiful floor routine during the All Around competition at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. As the BBC announcer described it, “captivating!” It really is. I just wish she had been able to perform this well during floor finals! So beautiful, I love love love this routine!

Ksenia Semenova’s FX from the recent Russian Cup. Love her! This was, as one of the commenters said, pretty much the floor routine of her life! The tumbling and dance were both great, especially her very pretty double layout! I also love this music, does anyone know what the name of the first song is? Leave a comment if you do!!

Teeny Anna Pavlova (RUS) churned out a brilliant routine at the 2001 Goodwill Games Event Finals.  Such a pretty angle on that press to handstand mount. That has to be one of the prettiest full twisting back handsprings ever, and I’ve decided a well-done one might just be my favorite beam skill! And check out that triple twist dismount! Sure there are some wobbles in this routine, but she was just a baby then, and all those big tricks make up for it :)

Toyota International

I’m really looking forward to seeing the routines from the Toyota International meet in Japan this weekend! There are some big names on both sides, including Mustafina, Mitchell, and Mr. Yurchenko Triple himself - Uchimura, so it should be good! Click ‘Read more’for all the gymnasts competing!

To the person who found my blog by searching “Tatiana Nabieva floor music”, this is for you! The music is called Tosca Fantasy and is by Edvin Marton. It’s also the same music that Spain’s Ana Maria Izurieta used at the 2009 European Championships, as well as the USA’s Samantha Shapiro used at the 2010 VISA Championships. A very nice piece of music (and routine!), but I prefer Izurieta and Shapiro’s choreography to Nabieva’s.

Baby Tatiana Nabieva! Brigid at the Couch Gymnast mentioned during Worlds that the Russians always seem to know where a camera is to stare down! So cute! Credit goes to whoever took the photo. PS. I love this leotard!

I LOVE KOMOVA!!!!!!! She is tiny, adorable, and FULL OF TRICKS!!! =)

americangymnastics:

My excitement for the career of Viktoria Komova is pretty indescribable.  She is so talent, UNIQUE, comes from a lineage of gymnasts (her mother competed for the former Soviet Union), and is an intensive competitor who wants to become one of the greats.  Love that passion.

I’m excited to see her nail her bhs+layout stepout+arabian combination and I am excited to see her upgrade to a switch ring (was waiting for her to pull out that one).  HOWEVER, I prefer the composition of her old BB set (what she competed at the Youth Olympic Games).  Don’t get me wrong, her skills are amazing, but there was a better flow to her old set.  What happened to the amazing connection of her full turn w/ leg horizontal into front aeriel into sheep jump? Also, I’ll admit it, I’m a fan of the side somi’s :), and I am mad she gave hers the axe! If they take out anything, it should be that split full..  (In my opinion) She isn’t consistent enough at this set yet to compete it…but, got to love that Russian tenacity to throw all the big skills.

Those complaints aside, HOLY SHIT THIS GIRL IS AMAZING. (Pardon my French).  Can’t wait to see her at this years worlds. Go Komova!

Baby Anna Pavlova (RUS) showed bucketloads of potential and oozed elegance, although she was just 12 years old! Here is an old floor exercise from 2002. Based on the clean tumbles she showed plus her great presentation, I’m not surprised she made the 2004 Olympic team! I love me some Anna Pavlova, and I really hope she continues to compete! She may be able to make the 2012 Olympic team, just maybe! Alternatively, she can switch allegiances and qualify for another country’s team :P

Ksenia Afanasyeva (RUS) at the 2010 Pacific Rim Championships. Lovely capture of a beautiful leap! Also, I like this leotard, very classy red with some bling! I hate that green one they started using now :(
