Yang Bo: 1990 World Cup Event Finals - Balance Beam
China’s He Xuemei on floor at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. I really really enjoyed the dance in this routine, and also it was cool to see the variety of tumbling! Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that the ladies aren’t allowed to do the roll-out skills anymore (but I find it a bit sexist that men are allowed to still) but it is pretty cool to see it performed! I actually gasped because I thought she was gonna land on her head! I had just read about the Sang Lan thing….can you blame me? Haha :) Hope you all enjoy!
This is Tong Fei doing a High Bar routine from 1984. I really love all of todays high-flying release moves, but there’s something to be said for the smoothness and ease with which he does all of his moves. The one arm giants are incredible, especially the effortless half turn while on one arm towards the beginning, and that’s definitely one of the prettiest and highest double layouts I’ve ever seen - and stuck!
Toyota International
I’m really looking forward to seeing the routines from the Toyota International meet in Japan this weekend! There are some big names on both sides, including Mustafina, Mitchell, and Mr. Yurchenko Triple himself - Uchimura, so it should be good! Click ‘Read more’for all the gymnasts competing!
Women’s All-Around Coverage Quick Hits!
Finally got to watch the NBC coverage of the women’s all-around competition from the 2010 World Championships! Click READ MORE for all my observations!
He Kexin’s floor routine from team qualifications is a delight to watch! I am shocked! I knew the girl could swing bars but I had no idea she was any real use on the other events. But sure enough, she went up in qualifications and delivered a very clean routine! Not the difficulty of Mustafina, Bross, etc, but very nice execution and I love all the smiles! 2 1/2 punch front layout; stuck double tuck; smiles and even a little sass; triple turn; double full (i’d like to see this upgraded but let’s be honest, how often will China use this score on floor?); high very nearly stuck double pike to finish! 13.933, very nice! I love this music too, Bolero, but as a former figure skater I know it’s basically off limits after Torvill & Dean’s famous Olympic routine to it. (Google it, it is incredible)

NOMINATIVE Worlds Rosters Released - With Videos!
UPDATE: Adding videos! Click the gymnasts’ name to view a video of them. Keep checking back as I continue to edit! Nominative roster list is now COMPLETE! I suspect the mixed groups will change since some countries have withdrawn and others will be sending less gymnasts than initially thought.
Original post: Many countries have released their nominative rosters of the athletes that they are taking to Worlds already, wahoo! This means that the rosters can change, and likely we’ll see some changes, but this should give us a rough idea of who we can expect to see! Mielieta at Keishlieta Gymnastique has started compiling a list, along with the Rotations schedule for the competition, it’s nice to see everyone’s names together!

Continuing with my ‘00 Olympics videos, the next one I really loved was Yang Yun’s Floor Exercise! Age controversy aside, this was definitely my favorite floor routine of the games, hands down. The choreography is amazing, her presentation is amazing, the tumbling is amazing, this routine just plain rocks! It is so exquisite, and really a pleasure to watch. I hope you guys enjoy it!
This is Fan Ye of China, winning the Balance Beam event finals at the 2003 Anaheim World Championships. Lovely routine! I love the phrase “disciplined landings” from the announcer! She scored a 9.812 for this routine, placing her ahead of Catalina Ponor (ROM) in 2nd and Ludmila Ezhova (RUS) in 3rd.
