NOMINATIVE Worlds Rosters Released - With Videos!

UPDATE: Adding videos! Click the gymnasts’ name to view a video of them. Keep checking back as I continue to edit! Nominative roster list is now COMPLETE! I suspect the mixed groups will change since some countries have withdrawn and others will be sending less gymnasts than initially thought.

Original post: Many countries have released their nominative rosters of the athletes that they are taking to Worlds already, wahoo! This means that the rosters can change, and likely we’ll see some changes, but this should give us a rough idea of who we can expect to see! Mielieta at Keishlieta Gymnastique has started compiling a list, along with the Rotations schedule for the competition, it’s nice to see everyone’s names together!

Guatemalan Gymnasts

I gave myself quite a question earlier when I wondered if there had been many Guatemalan gymnasts reaching the Elite stage in years past. I could only think of some Cubans and Puerto Ricans….which are of course NOT Guatemala.

So, do any of my loyal readers know of any other Guatemalan gymnasts?

Video

Ana Sofia Gomez Porras continues to amaze me as I watch videos of her and the others from the Youth Olympic Games. Her vault is a Yurchenko full, and I couldn’t decide if it was tucked or just sloppy. Her bars routine was pretty nice, with a straddled jaeger and a full twisting double tuck dismount, but she will have lost a lot of tenths on missed handstands.

But the whole reason I posted this video is of course because of her beam routine! She is quite aggressive and makes everything look very easy. What I was NOT expecting was for her to come out with that awesome backhandspring tucked full! Very nice! She reminds me a little bit of Nastia Liukin since she is so long and leggy. Her switch leap-back pike combination looks totally effortless for her, as does her free walkover-back tuck combo. Like I said in my last post….love her!
